Our Fee Schedule

What you pay should be as transparent as our advice. Here is exactly what Gatewood charges, what it covers, and what it doesn't.

How We're Paid

Our Firm's Fee Structure

Because we are fiduciary advisors, we are ethically required to put your interests ahead of our own — not only because it is a legal standard, but because it aligns with the values we hold as a team.

We believe in transparency in our fees as much as in our advice. How you are billed depends on which services you use, and everyone's situation is unique to their family and to their business. Your fee may combine more than one of the three below.

Our fee is also not your only cost of ownership. Fund expense ratios, custodian charges and transaction fees are set by third parties and go to them rather than to us, and we walk through every one of them before you become a client.

Advisory Fee on Managed Assets

Our primary compensation is a blended tiered fee on the assets we manage, calculated based on the balance of your managed accounts on the last business day of the preceding quarter, multiplied by your tiered fee.

Commission on Insurance Products Sold

Life insurance, disability insurance, and annuities pay a commission from the carrier to us. We are not captive to any carrier and we have no proprietary products, so we're agnostic to which products we suggest.

Service-Specific Billing

Persosonal or Business Tax Preparation, Accounting, CFO and Business Retirement Plan services are quoted individually and billed separately from other advisory services.

Our Tiered Billing Explained

Household Advisory Fees

Our fees are based on a tiered billing schedule. Each portion of your assets is billed at the rate for its own tier, so as asset levels increase, the blended fee percentage may decrease — resulting in a more favorable rate as your investments grow.

Fees are calculated on the balance of your managed accounts on the last business day of the preceding quarter, multiplied by your tiered fee.

With our family pricing model, accounts are combined for billing, so household assets are counted toward the same tier. That combination is what makes our multigenerational planning approach practical. Adding a parent's or an adult child's accounts moves the whole household toward a lower blended rate.
